At the beginning of my multisport career in 1991, I tipped the scales at 220 lbs, but I had a fire in my heart and discovered a competitiveness that I never knew was there. I had medical professionals tell me that my body would not hold up to the abuse of running and cycling, but I chose to pursue my dream of being an Ironman.
It is through hard work, sacrifice and training smart that I have achieved so much in multisport. The road was not easy, but I have learned so much about myself in the process. People often ask me why I do Ironman or would choose to run for 8 hours non-stop. And my response to them is this: "God gave me the desire and ability to 'go long.' Wouldn't it be a waste to not utilize these gifts? And in the process (as a coach), I can help others that never believed they too could achieve the same." Yes, I am an athlete. But more importantly I am a coach that desires to help athletes live the dream and achieve what others say is impossible!Yes, I am an athlete but more importantly I am a coach that desires to help athletes live the dream and achieve what others say is impossible!
